Krav Maga Toronto
Krav Maga Toronto’s Chief Instructor Robert Ferreira has been teaching self-defence for nearly 20 years. Krav Maga Toronto is honored and proud to have the love and respect in our beautiful community for being the premier self-defence centre in city. There are a few things to describe what we do; Self-defence, Fighting and Fitness… and abundantly more!
Krav Maga is the official self-defence system of the Israeli Defence Forces, and has been taught to hundreds of law enforcement agencies and thousands of civilians in North America and around the world.
Krav Maga is a simple, effective self-defence system that emphasizes instinctive movements, practical techniques, and realistic training scenarios. Its methodology is explosive and very aggressive. We cover everything from the very basic, intuitive defences to worst-case scenarios, under both physically and mentally strenuous situations.
The system is designed for men, women, and children of all ages. People of all shapes, sizes, and experience levels. The first rule of Krav Maga is that there are No rules! Since Krav Maga is a defensive system, not a martial art, it was developed for use on the street or in combat, not in competition. Krav Maga rejects the idea of a “fair fight”. Instead, Krav Maga teaches that any moves that increase your chances of defending yourself should be used.
The main focus of Krav Maga is to survive a violent, life threatening encounter, Period. As a system, Krav Maga revolves around techniques that are easy, effective and efficient to learn and apply under stress. Krav Maga will teach students practical self-defence to be grasped in the shortest possible span of time. You will learn to defend against common strikes, chokes, grabs, bear hugs and multiple attackers. On top of that, weapons such as guns, knives, sticks, bats are part of the defences, all while also learning to adapt to confrontational stresses including shock and surprise attacks from violent attackers from many unpredictable attack situations. No two attacks are the same.
Krav Maga is a system that deals with aggressive attacks as decisively and aggressively as necessary for the purpose of ending the danger these real life attacks pose. Krav Maga was developed in the streets of Bratislava in the 1930’s during the Nazi era by Imi Lichtenfeld, creator and founder of the system. He adapted Krav Maga for Law Enforcement and as well civilians. Imi’s mission was to save lives around the world with Krav Maga. We honor and continue his mission “So one may walk in peace.”
