We had almost 50 fully clothed participants in the water, and they were attacked in a variety of scenarios which was incredibly exhausting and tremendously fun for everyone involved.
Our students and team of Instructors were lead through a series of training drills in and out of the water, and the pool added the kind of weight and resistance-simulating stress that only being in water can induce.
Participants learned valuable skills that can save their lives, both in and out of the water. The owner and Chief Instructor Robert Ferreira — or as the students like to call him, The Rob Father — put everyone through the ringer, with the help and supervision of 3 Licensed Life Guards. Safety is the #1 priority both in and out of classes at KMT, and the H2H in H2O training was no exception.
The seminar covered drown-proofing skills, defenses against being drowned, drills where the participants were dragged to the bottom of the pool, aggressive combative attacks, and choke holds.
Students also created buoyancy devices while in the water, teaching students skills that even the less water savvy participants were able to comfortably apply in deeper water.
We’d like to thank everyone who came out, and everyone who helped put this together, especially one of our long time members, Marta Dos Santos.
We look forward to the next time we can run this great event!
